Sir Nick Faldo and Seve Ballesteros
Sir Nick Faldo is a three time winner at The Masters and now an analyst for CBS and Golf Channel, recalled on Saturday the pioneering achievements of Seve Ballesteros, who was at home in Santander for his birthday recovering from more treatment.
On the day of Seve's 54th birthday Faldo recalled the Spaniard as a source of inspiration.
"He was the first European to win the Masters and only 23 years old. He was the guy who taught us that if he had succeeded, we could also try. Afterwards in the Ryder Cup his contribution was even greater. I met played with him in 1983, 1985, 1987 ... In four or five events and the spirit in which he faced each issue was extraordinary. "
Faldo ended the interview with a wish: "Seve, let's see if we can get you strong again and see you at the champions dinner again?"
