R&A Supports Ladies Asian Golf Tour

Seeing the rapid pace in the growth and popularity of the Ladies Asian Golf Tour and its potential to be the biggest tour in the near future, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews has continued to offer their firm support to the Ladies Asian Golf Tour (LAGT).

In a recent message to LAGT, R&A director of Golf Development Duncan Weir wrote that the R&A is delighted to be continuing its support of the Ladies Asian Golf Tour by granting the Tour US$40,000 for the year 2011.

Said Duncan: "We hope this financial backing will help the LAGT run its events to the highest of standards and give many players from different countries the opportunity to compete at a very high level."

LAGT president/Commissioner Koichi Kato said the Tour sincerely appreciates the R&A Board for having approved the annual grant to the Ladies Asian Golf Tour.

"We give our full assurance and commitment that this allocation will be wisely spent to boost the development of the Tour and the events on the calendar season for 2011.

"As you know we are in the midst of taking the Tour to a higher level as more and more sponsors from this region are showing interest in the Tour by writing to us and enquiring more details," said Kato.
