Last Sunday Thomas Björn played in the last group with Marcel Siem of Germany at The Celtic Manor Wales Open and was visibly frustrated at times with some of his shots - despite having played himself into the leading group the previous day.
On Monday he went Sunningdale and secured one of the 10 places on offer for the 150th Open at St Andrews next month after completing 36 holes in eight under par.
This weekend at the Estoril Open de Portugal Björn has put himself in a prime position to land his first European Tour title for more than four years after a brilliant third round of 65.
The Dane is looking for a tenth European Tour title at Penha Longa Golf Club and on Saturday carded seven birdies without a dropped shot to advance to 19 under with one round left to play.
Joining him on Sunday will be Richard Green of Australia who signed for a 64 to remain three shots adrift in second place.
Damien McGrane went round in a bogey-free 68 to sit third on 14 under.
Darren Clarke was four under at the turn with four birdies on the card which was then followed by an eagle on the 12th hole. However two dropped shots on the 16th after a double bogey was a set back. But a birdie finish on the 18th left him signing for a 69 and -6 total.
Gary Murphy made the turn in 36 shots and then made the back nine in 37 with bogeys on holes 10 and 17. On the 18th he also finished with a birdie to complete day three one over par and remain -3 overall.
