La Sella Event Offers Further LET Starts

Ana Larrañeta

The España Profesional Femenino takes place at La Sella Golf in Dénia, Alicante, from April 7th - 9th and the winner will earn a triple prize.

In addition to lifting the trophy, organisers have announced that the event champion will also earn a place in the Tenerife Ladies Match Play 2011 and the Open de España 2012 on the Ladies European Tour schedule.

Spain’s Ana Larrañeta won the 2010 prize after an intense duel with compatriot Maria Hernandez.

In 2000, Paula Martí secured the title and no event was played again until Marta Prieto prevailed in 2005 and again in 2006. Xonia Wünsch won in 2008, while Tania Elósegui triumphed in 2009.

La Sella Golf has become well known by Ladies European Tour players in recent times since it has hosted the European Nations Cup every year since the inaugural event won by Trish Johnson and Rebecca Hudson in 2008. The event takes place at the venue again from April 14-17, when Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist and Sophie Gustafson defend the title against a high quality international field.

Located next to the Montgó natural park, La Sella Golf opened in 1991 and is a par-72 designed by Jose Maria Olazábal. It is in parts, a hilly course winding through Mediterranean trees which now features a modern short game training zone.
