Arjun Atwal Shares Second at The Heritage

Arjun Atwal

India’s Arjun Atwal fired a sparkling six-under-par 65 to share second place at The Heritage on Thursday.

Atwal fired a flawless round with six birdies in 12 holes to trail Garrett Willis of the United States by one stroke.

The former Asian Tour number one hopes to make amends after missing the cut in his first Major appearance at the Masters two weeks ago.

“Well, I struggled the last few weeks. I know it's coming around. I've struggled off the tees, but my irons and my short game has been pretty good. I had a lesson with my coach, Dale Lynch, yesterday, and he gave me a little key that's working,” said Atwal.

Atwal was the first Indian to win on the US PGA Tour when he won the Wyndham Championship last year and is eyeing to repeat his success if he can keep the ball on the green.

“The greens are firm. They're small. And you can hit it in the middle of the fairway and still left with a tough shot to hit the green. You've just got to hit it in the correct spots in the fairways and then just go at it, get the putts off those,” he added.
