II Picciolo Golf Club
The Sicilian Golf Open will be the first European Tour event staged on the island.
• The European Senior Tour went to Sicily in 2010 for the Sicilian Senior Open won by Domingo Hospital, played at the II Picciolo Golf Club.
• There are seven golf clubs on the island of Sicily. They are: Disio Resort, Donnafugata Golf & Spa Resort (venue for the Sicilian Open), II Picciolo Golf Club, Le Madonie Golf Resort, Pantalleria Golf Club, Verdura Golf & Spa Resort and Villa Airoldi Golf Club.
• II Picciolo Golf Club, opened in 1989 was the first golf course in Sicily.
• The Sicilian Open is one of three new events on the 2011 European Tour International Schedule. They are: Volvo Golf Champions, Sicilian Open and Iskandar Johor Open.
• Sicily becomes the 42nd different destination to play host to a European Tour event.
