Leona and Lisa Maguire
Lisa Maguire continued her strong run of form dispatching Spain's Luna Sobron Galmes on the fourteenth green who had earlier defeated the leading qualifier Ines Lescudier (FRA).
Lisa had to go to the third extra hole to dispose of her International teammate Danielle McVeigh (RCDL) in the morning round.
Third qualifier and twin sister Leona beat Alexandra Bonetti on the 18th green. It was sweet revenge for the Cavan teenager who had lost the deciding match to Bonetti in the 2010 European Girls Team Championships that saw Ireland having to settle for SILVER. Leona now faces another French star Emilie Alonso (FRA) in the quarter finals while Lisa plays England’s Holly Clyburn for a place in the last 4.
The quarter and semi finals will be played on Saturday with the 18 hole final scheduled for Sunday morning.
