Tara Delaney finished in 46th place at the Lades European Tour Pre-qualifying earlier this week missing out on one of the top 35 places that secured a spot in the Final Qualifying in La Manga from December 15th -19th. With one event remaining in the 2010 season Delaney travels this week for the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters with no playing schedule for next season.
Tara started to play golf at the age of 10 but says that she has been swinging a golf club her whole life. Her older sister, Karen, also plays international golf as an amateur and is a scratch player.
In 2010 Tara has played nineteen events making the cut on four occasions three times at UniCredit Ladies German Open, finishing 49th, 4C Wales Championship in 35th place and the Open de France Feminin in a share of 56th place
Having graduated from Kent State University in Ohio in 2008 with a degree in Sports Management Delaney now lives in Carlow - where she was born – playing at the Carlow Golf Club where shed is coached by Brendan McDaid.
In December 2009 year Delaney earned her card at LET Q School for the 2009 season after finishing 23rd and went on to play 16 tournaments in her rookie season - making six cuts. She recorded a season best with a tie for 15th at the Randstad Open de France Dames in Arras and went on to finish 95th on the Henderson Money List with season's earnings of €14,138.75.
At the end of the year Tara returned to Final Stage Qualifying School and finished in 24th place, earning her full playing category for 2010.
This year the Carlow golfer was 122nd in Henderson Money List Delaney with earnings of €8,792.46 and so had to return to Pre-Q School in La Manga at the end of November.
