Chris Devlin returned to action on Thursday at Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach in Florida and finished day two on level par after a round of 71 to remain eleven over at the USPGA Qualifying School Second Stage.
Two birdies on the 15th and 17th holes were reward on the back nine after a double bogey on the eleventh for a level par finish after making the turn in regulation. The score moved Devlin up to 65th place – but still well outside one of the coveted top 19 places.
The leader is Seong Ho Lee of South Korea who signed for a round of 67 to post the pace at 7 under par.
Mark Murphy carded a second round of two over par after signing for a 74 at TPC Craig Ranch at McKinney in Texas to slip back to a share of 58th place and now six shots adrift of one of those vital top 20 places.
A bogey on the opening 10th hole was followed by a double bogey five on the 12th to make the turn in 3 over par - with another bogey on the 2nd to follow. However, birdies on the 5th and 9th holes improved the tally to 74 overall with a move the wrong way on the leader board.
Overnight leader Bradley Iles of New Zealand carded a 74 to drop back to 21st place.
Pablo Martin of Spain is in 5th place after a round of 70.
David Lutterus of Bradenton, Florida shot a round of 64 to post the lead at 12 under.
