Feely Heads to Senior Q School

Eoin Feely, Yasmine GC, Michael C. Egan, Dermot Morris of Limerick, Pat Errity of The European Club and John McBride of Prtsalon, tee off on Thursday at the European Senior Tour Qualifying School Stage 1 at Pestana Golf Resort in Portugal’s Algarve.

Vale da Pinta will again host the Final Stage, which last year was won by Englishman John Harrison who finished three strokes clear of Argentine Adan Sowa.

Last year was the first time that the Pestana Golf Resort hosted both stages of the Senior Tour Qualifying School as part of a three year agreement and its other two courses, Silves Golf and the Nick Price-designed Gramacho, will continue as host venues of the Senior Tour Qualifying School Stage One from November 11-12.

Eoin Feely started playing golf as an amateur in 1993 in Belgium where he was living and began with a group called the Irish Wild Geese who had membership in a club named ST. JORIS WINGE.

His 1st official handicap was 12 at this club and over the next 7 months he was down to 4 handicap then moving to La Tounrnette which was nearer to Brussels and over the next 2 seasons he reached 0 handicap. He then started taking serious lessons and after 2 more seasons reached plus 2.7 handicap.

It was at this point that his coach suggested he should try to prepare for the European Senior Tour when he reached 50 years old. With the help of his coach they built a programme with this objective.

In 2001 he became a professional and played on the European Professional Development Tour until an injury in 2006. At the beginning of 2007 he was invited to run clinics in Tunisia at the Resort of Hammamet for a Dutch company. Since then he has been spending the October to June period in Tunisia running the clinics and preparing himself for the SENIOR TOUR.

Also in the Q School mix is Victor Garcia – Father of Sergio.
