Colm Moriarty of Team Ireland struggled in the conditions on day two at the Apulia San Domenico Grand Final to sign for a six over par round of 77 to drop down to a share of 23rd place – on four over par.
It was a day in which just one of the 45 players broke 71 – the par - at the San Domenico course - in the Challenge Tour season finale in Southern Italy.
Although Daniel Gaunt of Australia carded two of the three eagles recorded on the day - on holes 3 and 17 - with Jesus Maria Arruti of Spain also eagling the 3rd hole
Steven Tiley of England and Bernd Wiesberger of Austria have retained a share of the lead on 4 under after carding rounds of 73 with Peter Gustafsson of Sweden – the other overnight leader - now a shot behind after a second round 74.
Charles-Edouard Russo of France, Matt Haines of England, Daniel Gaunt and Christopher Ryan-Baker all share fourth place on one under.
Five shots then separate twenty-three players with Athlone’s Colm Moriarty in twenty-third place having seen the good work of day one undone with six bogeys on Thursday – making the turn in 38 shots – and then finishing the back nine in 39.
Challenge Tour Rankings leader, Alvaro Velasco, signed for a 74 to finish alongside Moriarty.
