Moriarty Earns Place at The Open


Colm Moriarty of Team Ireland earned his place at the 150th Open Championship on Tuesday after  completing rounds of 67 and 70 at Kingsbarns Links in Scotland with a first place  finish on  a 7 under par total score.

The Glasson Hotel and Country Club  professional was the only Irish player to qualify in the Final Local Qualifying for the 2010 Open.

Cian McNamara signed for a 76 and 71 for an aggregate of 147 on +3 missing out.

David Higgins of Waterville narrowly missed out after a starting with a superb round of 66  but missing out by a few shots after his second  73 at  Scotscraig.

Peter O’Keeffe completed the two rounds in 72 and 73 for an aggregate 145 on +5.

At Ladybank Daniel Sugrue of Killarney, a replacement for John Dignam, signed for a first round 71 and then a second round of 73 for a total of 145 on +3.

Cian McNamara has signed for a 76 and 71 for an aggregate of 147 on +3.

At Fairmont St Andrews Patrick Devine finished his first round with a 74 and followed it with another 74 for a four over par total and an aggregate of 148.

Tim Rice of Limerick signed for a 76 and 73 for an aggregate of 149 on +5
