Team Ireland at Slovak Ladies Open

The Ladies European Tour will make an historic first visit to Slovakia and the Gray Bear Golf Club, the first championship golf course in the country, which will host the inaugural Ladies Slovak Open from 27-30th May.

With a 2010 schedule already featuring the inaugural New Zealand Women’s Golf Open and then the Princess Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco, the addition of the Slovak event has been welcomed by Alexandra Armas, Executive Director of the Ladies European Tour.

The event will be hosted at the Gray Bear Golf Club which is located at the Tále ski, golf and hotel resort near Brezno and was designed by Americans Bob Walton and Skip Malek and opened in 2002.

Team Ireland Golf have five players down to compete this week and the group comprises of the same players that fought the cold weather conditions in Muenich recently at the UniCredit German Ladies Open – Rebecca Coakley, Hazel Kavanagh; Tara Delaney, Martina Gillen and Alison Walshe.

Claire Coughlan-Ryan is not playing this week.

The Ladies Slovak Open will see 126 players compete over four rounds of stroke play for a purse of €350,000, with a first prize of €52,500.
