Coakley Battles With Gray Bear

Melissa Reid of England shot a course record of 65 at Gray Bear golf club to take a one stroke lead after the third round of the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open despite heavy rain and weather delays due to electrical storms in the area.

Reid took the lead from Laura Davies carding seven birdies, two bogeys and an eagle on Saturday.

Australian rookie Kristie Smith signed for a 67 to finish one shot off the pace in second with Maria Hernandez Munoz taking a 69, in third at six-under-par.

Reid won her first professional title three weeks ago in Turkey and was a runner-up to Davies in Germany a fortnight ago.

The Ladies European Tour’s Henderson Money List leader, Davies, carded a 76 to share fifth with South African Ashleigh Simon (73) at three under par.

Pernilla Lindberg from Sweden had a 75 and slipped back to two under.

Rebecca Coakley of Team Ireland started on the tenth and went three over after three holes adding a double on the par four 15th and a bogey on 17 to reach the turn in 43. On the back nine Coakley was level par and signed for a 78 on +11 for the tournament.
