The PGA Tour has announced a $150,000 donation on behalf of The Presidents Cup and international team captain Greg Norman to help victims of Australia's devastating floods.
Former world number one Norman, who hails from flood-ravaged Queensland state, said: "I witnessed the floods of 1974, which at the time were devastating, but pale by comparison to the current tragedy in Queensland."
"As a born and bred Queenslander, my heart goes out to all that have been affected by the recent floods.... I truly appreciate the PGA Tour joining me in making this contribution and extend my heartfelt gratitude for all those who have contributed to the relief efforts."
PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with all who have been impacted by this disaster."
"We applaud Greg Norman for his partnership, and together, we hope this donation will provide some relief to those who are going through such a terrible time," he added.
The Presidents Cup, which features a US team against an international team, donated $100,000 to Australia disaster victims in 2009, when a savage firestorm razed entire towns and killed 173 people.
Players are not personally paid for their participation in The Presidents Cup, with the next tournament due to be held at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in November.
Each competitor, instead, designates charities or golf-related projects of his choice to receive a portion of the funds raised.
About $190 million has been raised in public and corporate donations to help victims of the Queensland flooding crisis, in which 35 people died and tens of thousands of homes were swamped.
