Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy form the Irish interest in this week's Wordl Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship n Florida which is to be played at the Blue Monster in Doral.
Rory Sabbatini moved into the top 10 in the FedExCup standings with his victory on Sunday and thus joined Jhonattan Vegas, D.A. Points, Aaron Baddeley and Jonathan Byrd as players who qualified for the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship via their position in the FedExCup standings.
The field is now set with 69 players from 19 countries and all of the top 50 from the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) as the TPC Blue Monster at Doral will again serve as the host venue for the world's best players at the Cadillac Championship this week.
Of the 69 players in the field, 60 are inside the top 65 in the OWGR.
The 69 players represent 19 countries from across the globe. There are 24 players from the United States who will tee it up this week. South Africa and Australia each send seven players as the countries with the most players from outside the United States. Six players from England and four from South Korea are in the field. Other countries represented are Japan (3), Denmark (2), Italy (2), Sweden (2), Spain (2), Northern Ireland (2), Colombia (1), Fiji (1), Germany (1), India (1), Ireland (1), Scotland (1) and Wales (1).
There are two teenagers in the field -- Japan's Ryo Ishikawa and South Korea's Seung-Yul Noh, each 19 years old. On the other side of spectrum, Australia's Peter Senior is the oldest player in the field at 51. Senior, who qualified via his No. 2 finish on the 2010 Australasian Tour Order of Merit, will be 51 years, 7 months, 13 days when the 2011 Cadillac Championship begins. Senior will be the third player over the age of 50 years to play in World Golf Championships event (Jay Haas played in six and Fred Funk played in two). Senior will be the oldest player to compete at the Cadillac Championship and the second oldest to tee it up at a World Golf Championships event.
The average age of the players in the field for this year's Accenture Match Play Championship is 32.92 years. There are 26 players under the age of 30 who qualified.
There are three players who are participating in the first World Golf Championships event of their career; AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am winner, D.A. Points, Kevin Streelman and PGA TOUR rookie Jhonattan Vegas of Venezuela. Vegas became the first Venezuelan to win on the PGA TOUR when he claimed the Bob Hope Classic in a playoff. He will be the first Venezuelan to compete in the World Golf Championships.
Donald claimed the season's first World Golf Championships event at the Accenture Match Play Championship, defeating Kaymer 3 and 2 in the Championship Match.
At No. 5 in the Official World Golf Ranking, Woods will look to bounce back from a disappointing first-round exit at the Accenture Match Play Championship on a course he knows well. Woods won the Cadillac Championship the first time it was played at TPC Blue Monster at Doral in 2007.
Phil Mickelson, who claimed the 2009 Cadillac Championship, will arrive in South Florida at No. 6 in the OWGR in search of his third-career World Golf Championships victory.
