Carlsberg to Sponsor Malaysian Open

Carlsberg has signed a five-year deal from 2011 to 2015 as main sponsors for the Maybank Malaysian Open, officials announced today.

To celebrate this new sponsorship, Carlsberg will also tie-up with Ben Leong, a winner on the Asian Tour, S. Siva Chandhran, last year’s Asian Development Tour Order of Merit champion, M. Sasidaran, Khor Kheng Hwai and Nicholas Fung.

As part of the tie-up, if any of these five players finish in the top-25 of the Maybank Malaysian Open, co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and European Tour, they will be rewarded with cash incentive of RM50,000.

“It is indeed appropriate that Carlsberg celebrates the 50th year of the prestigious Malaysian Open with our renewed five-year commitment and the addition of RM50,000 reward aimed at encouraging the development of the five Malaysian players,” said Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia, Soren Ravn.

This year’s Maybank Malaysian Open will offer a prize pot of US$2.5 million and will be played at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club from April 14 to 17.
