Rebecca Coakley of Team Ireland travels this week to the South Korean Island of Jeju – the favoured destination for honeymoon couples – in search of her maiden victory on Ladies European Tour [LET} at the Korean Ladies Masters.
With a birdie on the final green last Sunday at the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open Coakley narrowly missed out the four way sudden death play-off - by one stroke - after playing in the final group alongside Netherlands’ duo of Christel Boeljon and Dewi-Claire Schreefel.
Although Boeljon was amongst the final four it was Lee-Anne Pace of South Africa who won out to take her fifth title of the season.
Coakley travels to the Haevichi Hotel & Resort after finishing in a share of fifth last year – albeit at the Cypress Country Club - with Anna Rawson of Australia with Coakley the only European to finish in the top twenty.
Such is the strength of the Ladies game in the country that Koreans took all the top spots with Hyun-Ji Kim winning in a play- off against her compatriots, Yeon Ryu and Sarah Lee
Martina Gillen and Tara Delaney of Team Ireland are also down to play and hoping to improve on last week’s outing in China where both missed the cut.
The other Team Ireland player, Hazel Kavanagh, misses this event.
Laura Davies returns to action this week looking to add to her 73 titles – which will prove timely – as Lee-Anne Pace has taken the top spot on the Henderson Money list following her consecutive victories.
