Hoey Takes Route 66

Michael Hoey signed for a 66 to jump thirty eight places on the leader board on day three of the KLM Open and within five shots of the new leader, Martin Kaymer of Germany, who also shot four under par – with birdies on the last two holes to edge a one shot lead in the Netherlands over Paraguay's Fabrizio Zanotti and Swede Christian Nilsson.

This is Kaymer's first outing since Whistling Straits and if he lifts the €300,000 winner's cheque he will open up a lead of almost €500,000 over Graeme McDowell at the top of The Race to Dubai.

Francesco Molinari and Ross Fisher, the other two Ryder Cup debutants in the field, scored 67 and 68 respectively to be four under and three under.

Darren Clarke finished with a 67 to stay at 4 under par dropping only one shot and he is joined by Peter Lawrie who signed for a 69.

Damien McGrane completed his day with a level par round to drop back to 3 under.

Shane Lowry carded a one under par round - which included an eagle on the 12th hole - to remain one under for tournament at Hilversumche Golf Club.

Simon Thornton matched two bogeys and two birdies to remain level for his day's work and level for the tournament.

Gareth Maybin carded a double bogey on the eighteenth hole to remain one over par.
