Rebecca Coakley of Team Ireland remains within three shots of the joint leaders at Open de France Feminin after a round of 70 secured a five way share of seventh place at the half way stage just outside Paris.
Last week’s Austrian Open champion Laura Davies carries over her form to share the lead after five birdies on the front nine at Paris International Golf Club to card a five-under-par 67, finishing level with German rookie Caroline Masson on nine-under-par.
Masson, who won the LET’s Qualifying School at the first time of asking in December, shot two bogey-free rounds of 67 and 68. The 21-year-old, who shares a coach with the US PGA champion Martin Kaymer in Gunter Kessler, carded four birdies to join Davies at nine-under. She birdied the 16th and 18th holes and then had two more birdies at the first and the third holes.
Italian Diana Luna, playing in her fourth tournament of the season added a 69 to her opening 67 to lie in third position.
Wessberg started the day with a one stroke lead but carded four birdies against three bogeys for a 71 and seven-under overall total, alongside and the 1999 champion Trish Johnson from England, who shot 67 and Mollie Fankhauser from the United States, who had a 68.
The five players three shots off the pace on six-under-par include Rebecca Coakley, Germany’s Anja Monke, England’s Melissa Reid, Australian Rebecca Flood and Jade Schaeffer from France.
Tara Delaney signed for a 73 to remain level par.
Martina Gillen signed for a 76 to end day two on 3 over par.
Hazel Kavanagh signed for a 77 to finish 9 over and outside the cut.
